BREAKING: Open Letter to Gov Ododo, Others: Call for Rejection of Ibaji Hall of Fame Awards

To the Governor of Kogi State and Esteemed Award Recipients,

CALL FOR REJECTION OF THE IBAJI HALL OF FAME AWARDS:

We the Ibaji Progressive Youth Foundation and concerned citizens of Ibaji Local Government Area, Kogi State, wish to express our strong opposition to the upcoming Ibaji Hall of Fame awards being organized for past, current governor of Kogi State, past and current leaders of Ibaji local Government Area. We believe that the integrity and intent of this award are compromised by the decision to hold the presentation outside of Ibaji LGA, Kogi State.

We urge the governor and all selected award recipients to reject this award on the following grounds:

  1. Integrity of the Award: An award that is not presented in the Community it represents loses its significance. We believe that the location of the ceremony should reflect the values and identity of Ibaji, and moving it to a different local government diminishes the honor associated with the award.
  2. Cultural Significance: The Ibaji Hall of Fame awards are meant to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to our local Government. It is only fitting that such an important event takes place in Ibaji LGA, the heart of our culture and heritage. Holding the ceremony elsewhere undermines the very essence of the award.
  3. Community Representation: If the organizers truly have the best interests of the Ibaji people at heart, they should prioritize hosting the event in Ibaji LGA. This would not only honor our local traditions but also foster a sense of pride and ownership among our Community members.

It is also an insult to entire Ibaji people to have such an important event take place elsewhere, as it disregards our rightful place in the narrative of Kogi State.

We urge the governor and all involved to reconsider their participation in this event. We deserve to celebrate our leaders and their contributions in the very land that has shaped our identity.

In light of these reasons, we call upon the Governor and all selected individuals to reject the Ibaji Hall of Fame award unless it is relocated to Ibaji LGA. We believe that this action will demonstrate a commitment to our Local Government Area and its values.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Comr. Amb. Apeh Kelvin
National President

Mrs. Enedubi Loveth
National General Secretary.
For: Ibaji Progressive Youth Foundation.
